End of Year Activities

The end of the school years always brings activities. That's why things are always so busy.   Aubrie and Boston chose Bowling to be their end of year project.  They had fun, and Boston got an award for highest score in his grade but wasn't even there to recieve the prize, because he skipped his last day to go to Sophia's Kinder Graduation.  (see below)  

Ethan had a Roman Feast, and this is the Costume we put together in one night.   We made a run to Walmart and got a white pillowcase, some gold ribbon, and stopped by Burger King on the way home for a crown.  Ethan spray painted the crown gold (thankfully we had some on hand) and then he made this Tridant.  (Are you guessing who he is yet?)   Then I cut holes in the pillowcase, hot glue gunned the gold ribbon around the bottom and neck and viola! A belt and wrist cuffs were a sinch, with hot glue gunned Velcro.  And the beard was Aubrie's creation.  Batting glued to white fabric...and here you have Poseidon!    Ethan is in love with  Mythology.  He reads any books with those undertones.  Percy Jackson is his favorite, and he reads anything Rick Riorden  has written.  So when he found out he could dress as a Greek/Roman God, he knew exactly what he wanted to do.  At school they played games and were served grapes, hummus, and other type "Roman" food.  They laid on blankets and were served there.   Eating grapes while laying down...a classic Roman picture!  haha  I love how they do the festivals at Candeo.  So fun for the kids!

Out of all my kids, this was the first Kindergarten Celebration.  The kids all dressed up nice.  They   called their names and gave them their graduation certificate.  I prepared a slide show, that showed events through the year, and everyone watched that.  After the slide show, the other kinder classes joined us, and they performed songs for us, that the music teacher had been preparing through out the year.  Then we ate and mingled.  It was really hard for me because this officially marked that she was no longer a Kindergartner, and going forward she would be going to school full day.  That is hard for me, because I LOVE having Sophia with me.  She is such a joy, and just her presence brings me a little more peace in my life.  She is my mobile sunshine.  Boston decided to come and watch her graduation.  That was such a sweet thing for him to do, when he could have spent his last day of school with his friends.  He is a good brother to her!

Goodbye Let's Play Music

Sophia had her last Let's Play Music Recital. She only completed two years, because it was her teacher's last year.  She is excited to start piano in the Fall.  Of course, Sophia was full of energy and sang lound!  She really enjoyed LPM.  I'm glad she got the two years in to help develop her love for piano and being creative!

Hot and Cold

Today was Aubrie's soccer game and Sophia's "friend" Easton's birthday party at the Ice Den.  Aubrie played well, and all of us had fun on the ice.  The only problem was that I wasn't thinking about dressing warm for the ice skating, since we sat in 100 degree weather first, for the soccer game.  So we showed up in shorts and short sleeve shirts, and I realized my mistake when I saw people walking up in winter clothes.  The Ice Den is about 35 minutes from our house, so there was no going home.  We resorted to raiding the lost and found for jackets.  Boston resisted at first, insisting that was stealing.  We told  him it was "borrowing", since we were putting them back.  Once he was warm, he forgot all about it!

International Festival

At Candeo they have this thing called International Festival Night.  Every class picks a country and decorates the room like that Country, serves food that represents that country, etc.  I thought Sophia’s room was most impressive. They picked Austria, and this is what the room looked like.  Sophia had to do and display a project on the Language of Austria.  The class Mom went way out on the decorating.  Lucky for us, we had Austrian type clothing Sophia could wear, too!  What a fun night...but a lot of work!

Aubrie is a TEENAGER!

I CAN NOT believe that I did not take one photo of Aubrie’s birthday party.  Probably because I didn’t want to be the embarrassing Mom out there taking pictures.  This year was the big 13, and so the dynamics were much different than they were in the past.  This year it was a big backyard party...swimming, pizza, music, basketball, soccer, and whatever else they could do back there.  Aubrie was in charge of everything.  Invites, picking out the food, setting up the back yard, etc.  This year I allowed Aubrie to invite boys.  All the boys she wanted to invite were from church, and only added up to be 5, so I wasn’t too worried about it.   The party run’s itself at this age.  We just provide food, and clean up!  At first it took awhile for things to warm up...probably a good hour!  I don’t think the boys and girls are quite use to hanging out yet.  Another year, and they will be at church dances, so it was good practice!  The girls all grouped off and did their thing, and the boys did theirs.  Then about an hour and half later  all started having a good time swimming, playing soccer together, etc.   The party ended with Cotton Candy making, and when the parents showed up, no one wanted to leave.  It was a success and Aubrie had a great time!  No ER visits this year, thank Heavens! 

        It is hard to believe that Aubrie is a teenager!  Probably because she hasn't even hit five feet yet!  j/k  I'm sure she will get there by 8th grade.   Thought we butt heads a lot, I feel very fortunate to have her.   She is responsible, has high moral standards, and is always willing to help, to her own detriment of time management sometimes.  She is always friendly to  with , and has a way with children.  She is going to be a great leader, and mother someday!
